Fa-La-La Weekend
A super untraditional Christmas will be going on over here this year. Which, when I think about it, many of mine have been. I don’t mind at all. Seeing new places and checking things out is my jam. We’re going to be in Savannah, GA this year for the holiday. I’m looking forward to a lot of chilling and exploring while we’re there. But rather than focusing on the end of the month, my mind is on all the random things I have to do before we relocate back to Italy.
Fun stuff like dealing with my old laptop, selling my car, and figuring out what I’m going to be packing in my suitcase(s). Eeeeek.
What about you? What are you doing this weekend?
Below are a few of my current favorite things:
Lady Bird. You’ve heard of it, and now you’re hearing it from me. I loved it. Last week I saw an interview with the director, Greta Gerwig. This film was her debut. It’s been out less than a month and it’s rated on Rotten Tomatoes as a 100%. That’s never happened.
But what clinched it for me was Greta wanted specific songs on the movie soundtrack and she needed permission. She knew she was going to make it happen and wrote them into the movie. Full steam ahead. To gain permission she wrote letters direct to the artists. She told Justin Timberlake “Cry Me a River” was the sound track of her adolescence and it needed to be in the movie. She also wrote to Alanis and Dave Mathews. They all agreed. ALL BASED ON HER LETTERS.
Total badass move.

Macy’s is having a killer sale. I’m specifically looking at winter coats since their selection is rockstar AND they will deliver to me so I can return to the Motherland warm. Score. Side note – Buying a winter coat is Italy is not ideal because they’re super expensive and Italian women tend to wear puffer coats. I’m not a fan and feel like a puffy penguin. Instead I’ll buy it here and take it back with me.
I get asked a lot about travel points, tools, and resources: Best travel related credit card. Yes there is an annual fee, but you also get a $300 travel voucher, access to airport lounges around the world, 3x the points for travel and dining charges AND it’s not airline specific. Whooo hoooo. Great Card.
Death, Sex, and Money. A new podcast (for me). The latest episode is with Gabrielle Union and is about reclaiming your body after sexual assault. Given the current climate (hello Weinstein, Louis C.K., Lauer, and so many others) it’s super relevant.
That’s all I have this week.
Ciao for Now!
