These are The Hat Ladies. Other than their obvious gorgeous hats, The Hat Ladies are a philanthropic volunteer organization based in Charleston and headed up by Founder, Archie Burkel. I was lucky enough to meet them last Sunday. They are as sweet and gracious in person as they are in this photo.
Three Things
Three Things, my Wednesday post series, inspired by my love for bite-sized, tiny but mighty pieces of information.
One. This is Everything —
Yesterday I wrote about Wonder Woman, choking back sobs in the theatre (attractive), and what the movie meant to me. It seems to have made a significant impact on a kindergarten school as well. Within one week, this is the collection of cute Wonder Woman related things that happened, and then Patty Jenkins, the movie’s director, tweeted about it. My favorite: the printing out of the female superhero’s and their powers to choose from at recess.

Two. Riding the Wave of Life —
“Our lives are continually in motion, buoyed by the wave that is the universe’s flow. As the wave rises and falls, we are carried forward, through life’s high and low points.
The universe’s flow may take us to a place in life where we would rather not be. As tempting as it can be to fight the direction and size of this wave that propels us, riding the wave is intended to make life easier.
When you ride the wave, your life can evolve naturally and with minimal effort.”

I have experienced this feeling and can shut my eyes and remember the calm certainty I felt when I just relaxed and rode the damn wave. I was attentive and paying attention looking for opportunities around me. When spotted, rather than dismissing it, I took a step forward, then another. It’s not about “figuring something out.” It’s about taking a series of small steps beginning with the one in front of you and then watching and acting on the next.

Three. Notice When You Are Happy —
– Kurt Vonnegut
Yes, I agree. Let’s do more of this for crying out loud.
