What Are Your Plans This Weekend?
The week has felt a bit off with the holiday falling right in the middle of it all. I spent the long weekend in my hometown, about an hour south of Chicago. Think fields of green. I don’t know the last time I’ve been back home in the summer, it was so nice! Hot, but nice. Best of all, I fulfilled my wish of seeing lightening bugs do their iridescent show, over a corn field no less. Score! Topped it off with an ice cream cone at the same place I used to go with my grandparents making me a happy midwesterner.
We flew back on Wednesday and Mimmo flew out to Italy the next day. Gone for two weeks, I’m using this time wisely to sit my butt in front of the computer to pound through my book proposal. I’m also looking forward to seeing a friend who’s driving in to Charleston tomorrow for a writing date! I’ve promised to pick the perfect spot. I’m thinking here, one of my regular hangouts.

What about you guys, what are you up to? I’ve gathered the latest musing from around the web for your weekend reading.
Nothing better than cracking a new book on a plane. Savoring it and then diving in. If you’re looking for inspiration, Condé Nast put together a solid list for this summer.
For the holiday weekend I had ordered and saved (for almost two months!) this page turner. What’s not to love about a summer thriller?
The kickass talent, Amy Guth, has discounted her Media Training + Pitch Clinics for the month of July. Since she’s more than worth full price, this is a big ole deal. A WGN talk radio host, and founder of a production company called Strangewaze in Chicago, she does it all. If you need help rocking a media tour, creating a solid social media plan, or help pitching your creative project, she’s your girl.
Last weekend we flew into Chicago and rented a car through Turo, a car sharing service. Like Airbnb, only for cars. Faced with either paying $600 for a five day rental OR renting from some sketchy companies, Turo was well priced and so.damn.convenient. The car was waiting for us in the parking garage and we drove off within minutes of landing. HIGHLY recommended. If you’re thinking of signing up, here’s a $25 credit for you and me!
I love these simple week night recipes and may be trying some out myself.
Ciao for Now!
